OPORD

I Situation:

Zargabad has seen the worst of the war that has now engulfed the region around Fallujah. The smaller town of Zargabad has, however, been known as a safe haven to the insurgent ring leaders for some time now. The local, allied forces are either too corrupt or unable to do anything about them. If we want to stop this war, we need to arrest or kill all of them.

Friendly Forces:

[] US Army
[
] PLT, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, MMG, MAT, ENG, NB, Dagger, Mortars, Falcon are available

Neutral Forces

[] Takistani National Army
[
] Do not expect any help from the TNA. While overall supportive of us, the local forces in Zargabad are entirely indifferent towards us. They will only defend themselves.

[] Takistani Police
[
] Corrupt and unhelpful, the TKP will most likely become hostile should you attempt to detain their chief.

[] Mosque Security
[
] These stoic guardians of the Grand Mosque within Zargabad only exist to protect their Imam. They will kill any infidel attempting to enter their mosque.

Assets:

[] 2x Bradley M2A3s
[
] 1x AH-64D
[] 1x Hunter w/ .50
[
] 2x MRAP w/ .50
[] 1x MRAP
[
] 2x Humvee w/.50
[] 2x Humvee
[
] 1x F/A 18 Super Hornet

Enemy Forces:

[] Takistani insurgents
[
] The Takistani insurgents are equipped with rusting soviet gear. Their pride and joy T-34 was blown up by our sister platoon a week ago, but they should not be underestimated.

Civilians:

[] Many
[
] It is lawful in Takistan to openly carry an automatic firearm. You are not to shoot anyone until they open fire on you first, even if you believe them to have hostile intent.

II Mission:

Capture or kill all six ring leaders:

III Execution:

Commander’s intent

[] PLT is to draft a plan to enter the city and go block to block to arrest the ring leaders.
[
] once a ring leader is captured, it is up to PLT whether to keep the HVT in one of their vehicles, call a Helo extract for the target or bring them to the TNA military base in the North.
[] Should an HVT die, their body needs to be recovered and similarly stowed as if they were captured (body bags are provided as part of resupply).
[
] Do not shoot civilians. Too much collateral and the TNA may turn hostile towards us.

Movement Plan

Movement up to PLT.

Fire Support

[] NB, DGR or FLC if chosen.
[
] If no fire support element is chosen, 1x Blackhawk with Miniguns will escort your convoy.

PLT/JTAC can call in 3x A10 gun runs, callsign “Warlock”

IV Administration / Logistics:

Resupplying

Resupply is available next to vehicles.

Reinforcements:

[] Reinsertions will be on the hour every hour and be adhered to strictly, no deviation is allowed.
[
] Reinsertions are the same for all, including vehicles teams.
[] Platoon Commander has a one time reinsertion wild card at his disposal, call this in through HQ.
[
] At predesignated times, reinforcements will be sent out of the base in the smallest transport vehicle which can hold reinforcements.
[] At predesignated times, an air transport will be sent out to pick up reinforcements from the base.
[
] At predesignated times, an armed escort vehicle will be sent out to escort reinforcements from the base.

Upon insertion to the AO, reinforcements should stick together until regrouping with the main force in the AO.

V Targets:

The Commander:

Responsible for the assault on Fallujah, the commander of the insurgents will be somewhere well-fortified.

The Hired Gun:

The PMC aide has joined the insurgents as an advisor in return for large sums of money. He will most likely be closeby to the commander.

The Doc:

Initially part of a UN relief team, the doctor has been radicalised over time. He is indispensable in keeping the insurgents fighting. A likely location is the hospital, but he may be in an entirely different location where he may have set up shop.

The Bomber:

The head teacher of the insurgent IED “school”, the Explosives Expert is even accused of teaching young children how to make bombs. He will likely be in some hidden workshop surrounded by explosives.

The Chief:

The Police Chief had radicalised many of his officers towards the insurgent cause, donating weapons and men that had decent training in using them. He is known to be in the police station.

The Preacher:

The Zargabadi Imam is instrumental in radicalising the locals. He needs to be brought in, alive if at all possible. He preaches from the Grand Mosque.

Jamal:

High command has made another individual an HVT, known as Jamal. Not much is known about him, but he seems to favour a blue bandana.

Area of Operations:
This mission will benefit quite a bit from a tactical plan. All elements are available and with our player numbers averaging ~20-25 a good tactical plan will take that into consideration in choosing assets.

Another consideration is plan of movement and specifically what targets to hit first. Some target positions are known, others are not.

There are plenty of neutral factions that could be antagonised if we piss them off, so locations like the mosque and police station could be left until other targets have been accounted for.

Can i ask what direction our FOB is in NESW?

You start on the SW side of Zargabad next to your vics. There are no american FOBs in the area (unless you really want one :p)

Would be a nice op for mortars 20330489

Do we have to search the whole city or the marked locations are where the HVTs hide themselves?

You can ask around for information, but there will be some searching involved.

Civilians:

Many

Worst OP for mortars imho…

yeah I think aether gets tunnel vision when he sees mortars are available

Edited OPORD to reflect changes on the event calendar. Added more info about civilians.

always mortars best mortars

Not a lot to go on here. But gave it a go. Basic movement plan attached option red primary option green secondary.

Plans will mostly change from intel from NB (long range optics).

Units:
Plat
Alpha
Bravo+eng(
Night bird [2)

Night bird - scout record etc

Rest of units soft dismount search and patrol.

Questions for command:

  1. How is airspace ? contested /non contest…etc AA presents …
  2. IED presents and intel?
  3. Engineers have metal detectors?
    4.will locals have intel?
  4. Mayor is he friendly or indifferent? Is it likely he has good intel or is there even a mayor.

Reply to movement:
As your start location is SW of Zargabad you’ll be disconnected from the main road leading from the South via a river. Following the road that you are on, it’ll lead you north of the TKA airfield (NW of sector 4).

Answers to Qs:

  1. Airspace is controlled by US and TKA forces
  2. IEDs are an ever-present threat but are more likely to be involved with the "Bomber" HVT
  3. Engineers do not have metal detectors. I recommend taking 1 engineers and attaching to PLT
  4. Locals may have intel, intel may also be found in the locations with HVTs
  5. Mayor seems to be indifferent but in bed with the police. He has a police guard around his compound which may complicate things if we capture their chief. You are authorised to breach his compound and question him but his guards will react violently.

This is where you start:

I would like to propose an alternative plan with Dagger instead of Nightbird. I drafted an assault plan on the Mosque to have some feedback on the way I would conduct the capture of HVTs on target locations.

Elements:
- Dagger (Bradley) -> Provides security around objectives

  • Alpha (MRAP w/ .50) -> Breaching & security squad
  • Bravo (MRAP) -> Breaching squad tasked with handling HVTs
  • PLT + ENG (Hunter w/ .50) -> Explosive Ordinance Disposal
  • Charlie if possible (MRAP w/ .50) -> Breaching & security squad
Convoy order (mounted):

  1. Dagger
  2. Alpha MRAP
  3. PLT + ENG
  4. Bravo MRAP
  5. Charlie MRAP

Convoy order (dismounted):

  1. A1 fireteam + Dagger
  2. A2 fireteam + MRAP
  3. B1 fireteam + PLT/ENG Hunter
  4. B2 fireteam + MRAP
  5. Charlie dismounted + MRAP

1. Mayor’s Residence
Push through the city to get to the Mayor’s Residence first in order to get some information from the Mayor.
After dismounting, convoy moves to the residence’s gate and Dagger breaks off to a suitable overwatch point to cover both the compound & the road.
A + B stack up to the gate. If the show of force is not enough to secure an audience with the Mayor, A & B breach the residence & capture the Mayor.

2. Grand Mosque
I would go for the Imam first while the city remains relatively under control as the Mosque seems like the most dangerous objective being in the middle of Zargabad.
After dismount, convoy moves to WP1. Dagger stays on OW at WP1 while Alpha & Bravo clear the Red 1 & Green 1 zones respectively.
Alpha then moves to clear Red 2 & Bravo to clear Green 2.
Dagger moves to OW point S-W of the Mosque.
PLT remains at WP1 & provides security on the Northern road.
Alpha & Bravo move with their vehicles and keep them close to their area of operations.
Bravo breaches the Mosque from the East while Bravo breaches from the West.
Upon securing the HVT, Bravo embarks him on their MRAP, all elements mount up & extract towards the East to the Regroup marker using the road South of the Mosque:

  1. Bravo
  2. PLT
  3. Alpha
  4. Dagger

Great plan, a few points for consideration:

This is a search and capture mission so spotting targets quickly will be important (hence NB)
I think it was mentioned not to piss off the locals otherwise the local military could join the fight. In this regard;
Attacking there mosque first May piss them off.
Also a Bradley with an auto cannon in tight streets may inflict civ cas.

Just a thought from my side. We are not assaulting the city but search and capture.

Also I think it will be important to keep and eye on the local military. We need to know when or if they are mobilising against us. I think nightbird would be best for this role. As they could spot and intercept or slow the approaching forces. Where as dagger would likely stick within support range of ground units.

Maybe, if allowed, we could designate someone to be a terp, try to communicate with some locals for information if needed.

Regarding NB, I don’t know how useful they would be trying to spot HVTs in such a city. That’s why I thought I’d rather have a force multiplier like the IFV in case insurgents show up.
The OPORD says that the TNA will get involved if we kill civilians, so if we are careful, it should not happen.

Even if the Bradely is dangerous in terms of firepower, I see it as an advantage as it could help us dispatch enemy vehicles quickly & effectively as well as properly lockdown entire streets without too much effort.

For the Mosque, I think the more locations we visit, the higher the risk of us pissing people off. That’s why I thought taking on the the hardest objective first, which I believe is the Mosque, would be a good choice to avoid having to capture it while being hunted by the insurgents.

Fair enough, different views of the same coin

Just note this comment from the OPORD
"There are plenty of neutral factions that could be antagonised if we piss them off, so locations like the mosque and police station could be left until other targets have been accounted for."

Yeah, i guess PLT is terp ussally.
