OPORD

I Situation:

The Island of Suursaari is the last stepping stone on the pacific conquest, lying between us and the New Australian Republic. It must be taken, but High Command can only devote so many resources to the task.

Task Force Noctem will be deployed to a small friendly military base located nearby and given a number of supplies. They must use these to take over the island and related territories, at their own discretion of which targets are most important. If TFN should run out of supplies, they will be forced to retreat and Suursaari will remain unconquered.

[] Reinsertions will be on the hour every hour and be adhered to strictly, no deviation is allowed. Reinsertions are the same for all, including vehicles teams.
[
] Platoon Commander has a one time reinsertion wild card at his disposal call this in through HQ.
[] At predesignated times, reinforcements will be sent out of the base in smallest transport vehicle which can hold reinforcements
[
] At predesignated times, an air transport will be sent out to pick up reinforcements from the base
[] At predesignated times, an armed escort vehicle will be sent out to escort reinforcements from the base
[

Base Map:

A-10’s are parked next to C-130’s.

Maybe this as a route in?

Skippy can I ask what do the Hashed areas represent and are the objective markers just places to clear?

Both Hashed areas and the Objective MArkers are the things that need to be cleared entirely before the Island can be claimed as captured! Hashed areas usually are palce on sprawling complexes or tunnel systems that we believe the enemy hold.

MEGA extra info:

Some things to consider:

I assume that 14911388 gave us the A-10A (correct me if I’m wrong)
-The A-10A has no laser capabilites and relies fully on ground lasing
-The A-10A camera has quite low visibility as it uses the Maverick’s camera.
-Together with the previous point: after firing all mavericks there is no more on board camera untill rearmed.
-There is no onboard radar but there is passive radar

A-10D

 • No laser guided munitions
 • Strong camera for recon
 • Lethal against all targets using unguided ammunition

Some extra questions:

What is the Suursaari defence force equipped with?
Is capturing enemy equipment allowed if we can salvage it?
(An assumption is that we have lasers designators and parachutes at our disposal)

Considering an overlaying strategy:

We should start by assessing the effect of capturing certain points on our enemy, maybe there is a critical radar station or something that we can disable early on.

We should use the littlebirds or the A-10D for scouting objectives

Great questions!

First off, the A-10. I’ve provided you with the more modern A-10D varients with a rather standard loadout. Sidewinder x2, 14 Hydra AP, 24x Hydra HE and 4 Mk82’s.

Suursaari Defence Force are quite a modern military force, since the New Australian Republic are their main supplier. They’re likely to be equipped with a range of weapons, both eastern and American though we’ve been assured that no European equipment has managed to reach their shores as far as we are aware.

Capturing enemy equipment is absolutely allowed in this set of Ops! It is in fact the only way you’re going to be able to move en masse around the mainland unless you use Helo ferries constantly! There’s no guarantee however that the enemy won’t try to steal stuff back in between missions, so if you want a vehicle to remain yours, you have to stash it away somewhere and post markers and details in this thread at the end of each mission!

We do have Parachutes and Laser Desig’s available in limited numbers. Once you are out, you are out. Equipment retrieval will be key in this!

edit: sheet in which we are trying to decode it

Well, I think I cracked it after you guys ruled out the Ceasar Cipher I went straight to the Vigenere Cipher and used some guesses at the keyword and got lucky with OWLS on the second try.

The maths takes a while and really need to go to bed so hopefully, you guys can copy what I have started to finish the message off.

Regards,
Dachi

EDIT: Did one more line so the message starts "Major General’s convoy…"

Assuming you guys are correct with breaking the first code that leaves us with a choice, which is continue clearing the southern part of the island or assaulting the Northern part of the island and basically doing the same job we did yesterday. I personally think we should continue assaulting from the south while leaving the radar station alone as to make them think we are still putting all our effort at the south part of the island.

Another reason is that we still don’t have enough intel on the convoy ie what direction are they coming from what it’s composition and if it’s worth assembling a ambush for the convoy or just wait until it reaches its final destaion plus do we even know what the date is for that convoy to be passing through the town or do we?

Last of all I would say only take out the radar station if we have to but I would leave it until the 3rd opp so that when we attack the northern bases they be sending refinoments south or last have there attention towards south than the north.

Major General’s convoy will be passing through Suurkyla at 1800

MESSAGE END

Just a quick idea I had last night that I thought about briefing in-game but should probably go here instead was to sort out the priority of equipment/supply recovery. This is so that all members of the platoon are clear on the orders for recovery of equip/supp and therefore it will speed up that process and avoid micro-management.

So here it is, I suggest we split the equip/supp down into two categories:

 1. Non-Man Portable
This covers things like vehicles, ammo crates etc that can not be picked up and carried. This will include small ammo boxes that can be picked up but are unfeasible to be transported by hand long distance.
2. Man Portable
This covers, weapon systems, ammunition, specialist equipment and medical supplies.
Orders for Non-Man Portable:

Any useable vehicle or ammo crate located must be brought to the attention of the FTL who will mark it on the map and communicate that find to the SL. Wait for orders from SL before moving or raiding etc. SL is to ensure as many valuable assets and ammunition are recovered back to base as possible.

Orders for Man Portable:

Rifleman AT is to ensure that they prioritise the retrieval of AT.

The Rifleman AT is to ensure they retrieve a Back Pack and prioritise the following when filling the backpack: Ammunition, Medical Supplies, Specialist Equipment and lastly weapon systems.

Medics are to prioritise the retrieval of medical supplies at any opportunity then look for ammunition, specialist equipment and weapon systems.

All other members of the Platoon have backpacks they are to ensure that as much kit as possible is moved from the backpack to their uniform and belt kit. This is to free up space for the retrieval of ammunition, medical supplies, specialist equipment and weapon systems.

Any retrieval of kit takes second priority to the safety and security of the platoon and the individual. The retrieval of equipment and supplies also is secondary to the primary objective of the mission.

Ammunition = compatible with our weapon systems.
Medical Supplies = all types.
Specialist Equipment = NVG’s, GPS, Binos, Laser Des, Drones, etc.
Weapons Systems = AT, AA, LMG, Long Range, personal, grenades, etc.

Something along these lines to be given in the briefing before the mission so all are aware before the launch of any mission etc to speed things up.

I would suggest due to this being an offensive campaign that we generally ignore static weapon systems and concentrate on the above.

Thing is what ammo and med supplies we personally use can’t be counted, and any rouygh estimate wont really be all too accurate. Plus he cant change our standard loadout to reflect used ammo and supplies. He can only remove supply boxes

The Retrieval of ammunition and medical supplies is really just to keep us going during the mission itself so we don’t have to use one of our crates for a resupply drop or at least we will use a lot less of them.

Plan for 30/07

My plan for the next op would be a bit more malleable than last op:

It involves a few phases:

 1. Attempt to capture the enemy general, if impossible: kill him.

 2. Use the jet to scout and and destroy strategical targets such as radio station and radar towers as well as hinder QRF-deployment.

 3. Engage the most important targets, perhaps they have a heli base or ground vehicle depot that we could capture/destroy.

Required units:

Falcon
Infantry (Alpha, perhaps MMG or something)
Nightbird (transport and extra cas)

All extra planning depends on the outcome of the scouting as we don’t have enough info now

We know the time and place/ But we dont know the date. Its daft to assume that its next Op. We NEED more intel before we act on it. Its a waste of time to act without more intel.

Here the Intel we gathered from fridays recon mission.

Plan: 30/07

Units:
Falcon
Nightbird
Infantry

Plan:

Time: 17:30

Falcon:

 • Scout out target locations and get accurate markers on enemy positions
 • Provide heavy CAS and destroy QRF
 • Destroy strategic targets on other locations (Radio masts, Radar towers ETC)

Nightbird

 • Perform light and accurate CAS
 • Move troops around
 • Perform logistic operations (shift gear and captured vehicles around)

Infantry

 • Attack targets

Targets:
See Map:
Red arrows: Direction of attack
Scout markers: For Falcon
Targets: target for infantry

MESSAGE END
The intel was send by email on 14.06 and we found it on 15.06 so it is assumable that since the message does not specifies a date that is is going to happen in the next OP. I think it would be foolish not to act on it now, we might miss the chance. I think we should deploy at 1700 next OP.

And if it doesnt happen? What then? Weve wasted some of our limited time on something that isn’t going to happen. We need to take 3 Objs per OP with the last one being 2 instead of 3 which gives us a 1 objective buffer zone. We do not have time to waste on uncertainties

You need to think a little outside the box here. Just send a scouting team like DMT there around that time and if there is a convoy ambush them hard by getting some guys there on the chopper, and use the miniguns on the chopper for even more firepower. If nothing is going on then DMT can just evac the area and go on their way. We need to utilize splitting up the fireteams more in these kind of high objective operations. I do not see the point of taking everyone to the same place all the time.

Not to break immersion here, but the numbers might not allow splitting up.
I think depending on numbers and assets we should have multiple DMT fireteams move out and scout multiple objectives. They can then call in CAS. It would mean we need to have multiple callsigns and different load outs.
