Area of Operations:

Wow, this mission is on a whole new level when it comes to combined arms, very impressive. I am guessing you mean Objective Silver when you say Iron?

Thanks. Fixed.

Hey guys my Plan of Action rough copy,

This plan is based on speed and movement IOT achieve our main Objective in the time given.

Should be a 7 Phase Plan.

Phase 1: Movement/Insertion

 • I plan on taking the A-10 CAS, KUMA and then lighter vehicles for just transport preferably the AFV’s for protection.

 • The CAS Pilot will take off asap and loiter around the blue circle to provide Intel and CAS. The Infantry and Armour will form up in convoy and get ready to move out.

 • This movement phase we will move to OP 1 marked on map to scout out the potential enemy area to our west and South West.

Phase 2: Occupation of OP 1

 • The the ground elements will occupy the observation point in all round defence dismounted.

 • From OP 1 we are to recce the outlaying area for our movement forward into the AO.

 • Our MBT will be kept to the rear covering flanks until the needed in the first assault.

Phase 3: Occupation of OP 2

 • Here all forces will get in all round defence in the valley below the OP and an advance party led by PLT/Alpha 1 will move to the OP and secure it.

 • The Advance party will recce the area and the first town to clear EVERON.

 • Once scouting is complete and the OP has been declared safe to occupy by the main force then the MBT will take up over watch while Infantry prepare to clear the town.

Phase 4: Clearance of EVERON

 • While the MBT maintains OW, infantry will move to clear.

 • Infantry will bound into EVERON and Clear the town of enemy.

 • Movement while bounding will be in combined arms i.e. AFV crew with rest of SQD dismounted for close support.

 • Once cleared Infantry elements will form up on the west of the town and be prepared to move on the next town.

Phase 5: Clearance of VALOR

 • Our MBT will remain at OP 2 if LOS is good to VALOR.

 • Infantry will bound to VALOR from EVERON clearing VALOR east to west.

 • Movement while bounding will be in combined arms i.e. AFV crew with rest of SQD dismounted for close support.

Phase 6: Assault of GAULA

 • Mech troops and MBT will move together with Mech troops forward and following the main road cover permiting.

 • The MBT will be off set to the Right and Behind moving mech troops covering the right flank and utilising rhe higher ground to gain eyes on GAULA.

 • Mech troops will move in and Clear GAULA east to west.

 • OW will be tasked to our MBT and CAS, MBT OW pos ditacted by there LOS.

 • Movement while bounding will be in combined arms i.e. AFV crew with rest of SQD dismounted for close support.

PHASE 7 dependant on the rest of our Companies tasks and or support!

Phase 7: Assault of OBJ SILVER

 • If other platoons within our company can be tasked taking the North to South route in AO and dealing with the two towns to the North of GAULA, then our northern flank and risk of encirclment is negated enough to allow us to push on OBJ SILVER.

 • Our MBT will move to the vinicity of OP 3 IOT gain OW on OBJ Silver.
 • Mech Troops will move in along the coast which has cover from view and would be my prefered stealthy approach.

 • Alternatively if the North is secure then we could skirt the Northern side of OP 3 and move in from there which would be a more full frontal approach but could afford cover from attack coming in from in depth positions within OBJ Silver.

 • Main effort is to hit the transition area into URBAN environment and from there start the clearance of SILVER in CQB. This should be achieved quickly and as stealthy as possible.

Key points throughout:

 • Ensure the safety of the MBT at all times aiming for long range engagments, from good positions.
 • Any enemy occupation on any of the towns is to be first met with a barrage of Artillery and CAS fire to lay waste to them before our forces move in to mop up.
 • I will "repeat" again use Arty and CAS as much as possible.
 • Keep the MBT our of URBAN combat.
 • Ensure AFV’s are protected at all times by dismounted infantry.

16558368 - would you be interested in doing a recon mission on Thursday, roughly 1 hours? There are always people who like that sort of thing and would give more intelligence prior to attack. It could confirm the tentative plan 12591864 created.

16558368 Can I clarify a few question and requests?

First can we task or find out the tasks of the other platoons in our Company?

Can we request either a Recce mission be carried out before the operation or that any ISTAR assets gain photos/thermal imagery of the AO?

Cheers,
Dachi

Other units are light units tasked with supporting your units assault. Company HQ can order them to fulfill specific tasks, if requested. Their capabilities are though limited.

Yes, short recon OP is doable on Thursday if the main mission file gets uploaded today and we can get the recon mission to the calendar today. Also I would expect the recon attendees to create a screenshot(s) of intel gained and post them in this thread.

Although there would be a risk-reward component to it. Any overt firefight may result in enemy being more prepared and changing their patrol routes.

Recon mission is uploaded along with the main one.

Well if we are 1st Plt can I ask that 2nd and 3rd Plt are tasked with conducting Diversionary attacks on MEDESTA and the location south of route AUDI marker respectively.

This will be more to occupy the forces located there rather that defeating them depending on 2nd and 3rd Platoons strength and enemy forces strength. This is to stop the encirclement of 1st Platoon once the assault on OBJ SILVER has started.

If 2nd and 3rd can take the towns they should and then push in to help with the assault but 1st plt should be kept informed of there situation at all time as it will dictate our level of risk and change our tasks.

Attached are some screenshots from the recon mission, we focused on the southern coast as that is the planned approach, although we got limited eyes to the north. Pretty much all the towns seemed empty from a distance with no major defensive structures (we didn’t get right up close to any of the towns), only the marked vehicle patrols were what we saw.

Various defensive structures around Corazol, what we spotted has been marked.
