OPORD: COOP: Shadowdrop

AO:

Here’s the are TFN will be operating in.
The main objective has been marked in blue, while the allied resistance supply drop has been marked with green. Their GPS tracker was still on at the time of capture it seems…

There are optional targets marked around the AO with yellow and threats (mainly hostile bases/outposts) marked in red.

Objective town area:

The town is split in two by the river with a central bridge connecting the two halves. There is a nearby river patrol base as well.

Objective town:

One side of the town has a military patrol base, the other side a old castle ruin complex.

The allied stash:

Nearby to the objective town is the allied stash location. They have left more fancy mine detectors there alongside additional mines and explosives for us to use. Also inflatable boats in case we need to cross the river.

The hostile controlled side of the river:

There are two larger bases in the area we believe to be active and might be able to send QRF forces to hold the town. Due to the obstructed bridge, the enemies most likely would not be able to cross the bridge itself, at least not with any speed. They could use boats however.

Proposals:
TFN will be landing to the West of the area in the forest, but there are multiple first targets.

  1. The Stash makes a logical first target, as the mine detectors there are more high tech than the ones TFN has been equipped with at the FOB. Our allies were able to get better tech. off the black market it seems…
Using the equipment, TFN could clear the bridge more easily or even cross the river to lay traps for the enemy QRF forces. Potentially even creating a diversion before going in for the town itself.
  2. Clearing the Town first would slow down any hostile troop movements on the western side of the river. We know they have a radio tower to the north of the town, but it is a small base and the rest of the AO island has been shelled to ruins, making any permanent outposts there unlikely. Patrols however are still to be expected.
  3. Hitting the radio tower to the north of the town and taking it offline would hamper communications between the hostile bases, this would slow down any QRF forces and cause chaos on the side AO island. There is another radio tower to the east of the river, serving the QRF bases and their airfields further from the frontlines. Due to the nature of the island and weak radios of our enemies, we know they have a hard time using short range communications and due to this, long range comms is more vital for them.

Unfortunately our allied resistance fighters were not able to stick around in the AO it seems to provide additional information, as we lost contact with them soon after we got confirmation of the supply drop.
