Coop - Rogue Patriot - Tactical Planning

If it is requested then I can make it happen, but beware the pitfulls i.e. comms.

Who can request stuff like this? And also, when? In game or in this thread?

If you request gear and equipment here I will tell you if it can be allocated to you or not. Anyone can ask but I have to authorise it so crazy requests or those that I deem would not be availible to you will be denied.

can i has a darter?

Hey guys,

  • Darter has been added.

  • 3 x SDV’s have been shipped in with diver equipment.

Here is the Thermal Imagery from the rest of the island. As requested.

Red Circle denote areas of 1 or more heat signatures.
Blue Circle denote areas of 3 or more heat signatures.

Somebody please test SDVs visibility by the AI, especially with periscope raised. It used to be like any other vehicle (spotted from 200-300m away, then I fixed it, then I removed the fix, because BI said they fixed it, but I never checked). The key part is the periscope as it counts as a vehicle part (like any other) and if it’s above water, it would be as visible as a car.

Instead of making elaborate plans, it would be smarter to just focus on recon first and then plan later. Otherwise your plan will be completely void.

I would like to volunteer to be the darter operator, and report on enemy movements to command. I will also laser designate for and/or operate reaper if nessecary. I will move the darter very high, almost up to the cloud layer, over 1400 meters so there is no chance of the enemy seeing it and us the camera to monitor all enemy movements, giving early warning, marking troops on the map etc.

Don’t like the initial landing zone, Blanco is known to be occupied and is next to a large hill, the enemy would be stupid to at least not have a lookout that would spot us landing

Shifting it south by 50m would put it at the base of a hill less likely to be under direct watch and blocks the line of sight to , although there is an issue of the open ground to the south, I think we’re less likely to be spotted

I’ve done some testing, and it seems the sub is quite hard for the AI to spot, you can get within 100 or so meters with periscope up and not be spotted (tested at night, slightly overcast & stormy). I also tested explosives against the walls of the castle, they don’t work, but I’d like to suggest the telescopic ladder as a way to get in.

From the UAV image, we can make out the shape of the walls, and there are a few areas that are out of sight of the interior of the compound into which we can climb, see image below.

Do note that the UAV shows guards on top of the guard towers and lighthouse, so these may need to be taken out first, (ideally with a silenced marksman) depending on if they can see down to where we’d place the ladders. If we hug the walls they should struggle to see us as we make our way around. The blue route should be completely in cover from the towers, the red route will be exposed to the lighthouse and potentially some of the towers on the sections marked with a star.

Some great ideas Xerses with the use of ladders etc.

I think whoever leads this mission has a lot to think about after they have conducted their initial recon. You have lots of options for insertion and in which way you will conduct the operation.

Telescopic ladders and periscopes are something we really should use more often

inb4 people bitching about the slow pace of the mission.

I am all for rebreathers and diving suits, as for the insertion method I’d go either helocast some ways away in a stealth helo or SDV.

This mission unlike most has given you lots of prior intel and ways to gather info in game, so anyone taking Plt Lead if they have read this thread should have a very good idea of how to conduct the mission.

If I was looking at being Plt Lead on this mission I would post my full plan here before the OP so others can make suggestions etc so it does not happen in game to speed up the movement from base.

Think the way to go is …

-one squad is diving with the SDV and breeching with ladders in the bay and/or using this bunker system formerly mentioned. If given the all clear from thermals on the drone, They’ll hold on the surface for a while as they wait for the final "all clear" on radio.

-the other is inserted by boat on whichever side of the island is ideal for avoiding contact and providing elevated overwatch,

-with drone operator scouting the place and passing the intel on.

-Kill launch crew whilst breeching the compound and the building with another fireteam, shoot out the tyres to sabotage potential launch,

-coordinating with overwatch to take out all the sentries simaltaneously as well as anyone outside of the compound

-overwatch will then secure an LZ for heli on standby and get everyone out of there in under a minute.

-drone laser designates disabled launchers and we hit it with a GBU

-Tea and biscuits.

Lightning war. Won’t be much slow paced about it. I can get the drone to altitude whilst everyone is being briefed and getting scopes.

Should be a short mission imo.

We do this Rainbow Six style like price suggested. Everybody stacks up and waits for the Go-Code then we do lightning maneuvering. But I think we should learn the blueprint of the building by heart so there’s no confusion but constant pressure. And even if they start executing hostages we still can save some.

Just hope they don’t have divers… arma diver combat is way too dangerous

Diving combat in arma is not as awfull as it seems, there are a couple of tricks to it:
-Don’t ads
-Use the lines the bullet makes through the water

Only further question I’ve got is why not just insert everyone by SDV?
It is by far the most stealthy option and is the easiest to maneuver around the castle.

Also: why not start the attack by blowing up the trucks with a gbu? Might cause some panic we could use to buy some extra time to get to the hostages?

Presumably we don’t get enough SDV’s for everyone.

The target location is an old fort that is…comparatively small… if we drop a gbu in there, everything dies. Hostages included. And then the rest of the island will converge on the location. Better to go in suppressed and go out suppressed and blow it up when we’re out of there.
