The Horizon Islands archipelago is at a state of civil war after the local general rallied his troops to unseat their King via a coup. As the Kingdom is a strategic US ally, they launched Operation: For the King where the King was rescued and a highly value military target was captured from the rebels.
Now that the King is back, he has rallied a militia to restore order, but he is still outnumbered and outgunned on the mainland. US has accepted the King’s call to aid and will help them regain their Kingdom.

OPORD

I Situation

As the King has launched a campaign to restore order to his Kingdom, he has requested the assistance of the US Marines who rescued him to aid him with capturing a few key locations where the hostile forces have retreated to reorganise. It seems the hostile forces are hoping to gain leverage by controlling key industrial sites on the main island and are using them to regroup for an assault on the King’s militia. We are here to keep the hostiles busy until the King can break out of the blockade of the southern island so that they could regain control of the mainland.

Friendly Forces

  • United States Marine Forces Special Operations Command
  • Platoon, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, DMT, MAT, MMG, Dagger, Nightbird
  • USS Liberty and the King’s Milita

Assets

  • 4 x Speedboat Minigun - 11 seats: 1 x driver, 1 x commander, 1 x rear gunner, 8 x passenger - no callsign
  • 2x UH-1Y (MG+Hydra) - 9 seats: 1x pilot, 1x co-pilot, 2x door gunner, 7x passenger - callsign “Nightbird”

Enemy Forces

  • Tanoa Liberation Army - rebels and turncoats of the Horizon Islands Defence Force. A mix of cold-war era Soviet and US equipment.

Civilians

  • Based on our intel, most civilians have fled from the occupied areas to larger urban centers for safety, but some may still remain.
  • Most civilians either side with the popular King or just want their home not to be a warzone.

II Mission

Our unit has been tasked with clearing the key marked industrial zones in the area and preventing them from reinforcing the southern blockade. As the main share of the friendly King’s Militia is bogged down in the southern island, their scattered forces are currently just securing two key locations on the island until backup arrives. The King’s Militia has offered to provide us with some of their cars and an LAV should we require it. Additionally, we are to gather any hostile intelligence and capture any combatants we can.

III Execution

Commander’s Intent

  • The order of the targets is down to Platoon’s choice. We have access to Nightbird, Boats, and ally vehicles on the mainland.
  • Down to Platoon if to go between objectives by helo, foot, sea or vehicles. Be mindful, that the weather might get worse later on in the day.
  • Once we have either cleared all the hostile controlled objectives or the king’s forces have broken out of the blockade, we can RTB for RRR.

Movement Plan

  • The hostiles might be patrolling the mainland and have access to ZU-23-2 AA, move with caution.
  • Platoon has access to NB, Boats and vehicles for transport, but due to the risk of a rainstorm, it might be slightly more difficult to move in the sea or air.
  • Hostiles control a quarry suspected of hosting artillery. Either move with haste and caution or we can use up Liberty’s missiles to hit them back.

Fire Support

  • USS Liberty has some remaining cruise missiles and the naval artillery cannon. The amount of missiles is low, so use them mindfully. The cannon has more ammo, but is less precise.
  • Nightbird is equipped with Hydra missiles for CAS.

Optional Tasks

  • Capture hostile intelligence and personnel whenever possible.

IV Administration / Logistics

  • Any captured hostiles should be secured and either brought to the USS Liberty or a friendly secure location.

Resupplying

  • Ammo resupply available at USS Liberty for Nightbird.
  • Field Hospital available at USS Liberty.

Reinforcements

  • Reinsertions will be on the hour every hour and be adhered to strictly, no deviation is allowed.
  • Reinsertions are the same for all, including vehicles teams.
  • Platoon Commander has a one time reinsertion wild card at his disposal, call this in through HQ.
  • At predesignated times, reinforcements will be sent out of the base in the smallest transport vehicle which can hold reinforcements.
  • At predesignated times, an air transport will be sent out to pick up reinforcements from the base.
  • Upon insertion to the AO, reinforcements should stick together until regrouping with the main force in the AO.

Good fun OP, worked great and was well balanced!

We need more blood though or some sort of way to get it more easily to the medics, we now see how easily it can slow/shut down an OP. Obviously I’m not in charge of saying how much blood should be available, and I know that there was some messing up with resupply, but it needs to be a little bit more prioritized in the future. Now there were people being held hostage by bleeding out slowly while the medic is powerless.
