First of all, it did get some rust off me as I got more than a single kill (compared to my previous OP on Tuesday, but being a historical nerd I have to point a few things out.

  1. Pistols some of the guys were equipped with were M9 Beretta’s which weren’t designed until 1975, so obviously we should’ve been all equipped with Browning Hi-Power or M1911’s.
  2. Katanga did not have jets until October 1962, that’s when the Portuguese agreed to sell two De Havilland Vampires, but initially, they were without any armament. Around December 1962, they were outfitted and arrived in Kolwezi and got immediately put out of action by UN SAAB J 29 Tunnan jets. Source: Mister Brown. pol. Ostatnia Walka. Jan Zumbach. Other than these two ahistorical mistakes, I had fun shooting my Bren LMG, and getting around 16 kills. Though in one part when only me, Hateboard, and Nez were left I felt like being back in STALKER once again, which I think is why I survived, despite being knocked out twice (Kudos to Hate for dragging me into the little fort and treating me).

1.Yeah forgot the pistols. Custom factions are hard.
2.Was from the movie, not sure :).

Thanks :slight_smile: Glad you had fun

Although I need to re-read the book. Wikipedia states that the jet used was Fogua Magister training aircraft, I’m pretty sure Zumbach stated that by '61 one Fogua was waiting for a new engine in Angola, and another one had something busted… but I’m not 100% certain about this, so if I made a mistake, it’s on me

Haha no worries you are probably right… I was only going for the concept.

Late to the party, but there was a jet. It was a trainer jet;

The attackers had a strength of 3,000–5,000 men, mostly Katangese and settlers, but with many Belgian, French and Rhodesian mercenaries armed with a mix of weapons and could call on limited air support from a Fouga Magister trainer-light ground attack jet fitted with a pair of underwing bombs and twin 7.5 mm machine guns. The aircraft attacked several times.

Yes, that’s why I said I’m not certain and I seriously do need to re-read Mister Brown. I should start doing so on the weekend. I know Fogua was mentioned there, but I’m not 100% sure if it wasn’t stated that she was waiting for a new engine in that time period, I’ll let you know once I’m done.

Cheers.
