A second front is to be created across Western Europe today. Operation Overlord is in full swing, with airborne elements already securing bridges and artillery positions behind enemy lines. The time has come for the largest seaborne invasion in the history of mankind and to establish a beachhead in Normandy. 1st and 29th infantry have been assigned to the beaches near Colleville, codenamed Omaha.

III Execution:

Commander’s intent

[] 2nd Platoon is to land at the debark marker.
[
] Once on the beach, 2nd PLT is to assist all other elements and assault german positions.
[] Should barbed wire impede the assault, use ENGRs to cut or blow it up, then keep pushing up the cliffs.
[
] Once the cliffs are taken, regroup and plan an assault on the two towns of Mont les Moulins and St. Laurent-sur-Mer.

Movement Plan

At PLTs discretion.

Fire Support

[] Reinsertions will be every quarter hour until 2115, after which normal reinsert rules apply (on the hour).
[
] Reinsertions are the same for all, including vehicles teams.
[] Platoon Commander has a two times reinsertion wild card at his disposal, call this in through HQ.
[
] At predesignated times, reinforcements will be sent out of the base in smallest transport vehicle which can hold reinforcements.

Upon insertion to the AO, reinforcements should stick together until regrouping with the main force in the AO

Area of Operations:
Omaha beach was the bloodiest beach landing of the 5 Normandy beach landings.

Dog Red, our sector did not produce any breaches in reality.

Successful breaches on other sectors came about mostly by piercing between the bunkers attacking from the flank. In that vein, Able along with half of ENGRs will double-time to the barbed war line on the east of Dog Red. Excessive use of smoke is advised. PLT, ENGRs and Baker will remain at the beachhead to provide suppression and draw focus away from Able. Naval artillery is to be called on S3 ASAP to enable this assault.

Once Able has occupied S3 and a naval barrage is ready, Baker and any second wave elements will begin an assault on S2, meanwhile Able will make their way to S5 and disable the mortar pits, before moving north through S4, and providing crossfire on S2.

In an effort to avoid civilian casualties, artillery will not be used on the villages of Les Moulins. Any further barrages authorized will be targeted at S1

Able, once resupplied, and Baker (if viable) will both assault parts of Les Moulins, avoiding open spaces where possible.

Finally, S1 will be cleared by any remaining elements by assaulting from the south.

Good plan. We will hopefully get fire support on bunkers during landing. Command?

Negative, fire support will only be available once youve established a beach head to minimise friendly fire.
