October 1st, 2016. The war in Iraq has again been a largely succesful one for coalition forces. The sparsely populated desert regions in the south of the country put up little resistance to the combined arms of the west. Now, however, coalition forces find themselves again dredged down in the tight urban warfare of the country’s few big cities.
OPORD
I Situation
Amercian forces being the most experienced in urban warfare took the lead in clearing the city of al-Fallujah, using their heavy airpower for precise close air support. However, it seems general Abdel Emir Yaralleh does have a few surprises up his sleeve, as a surprise mass deployment of MANPADS and other short-range air defences in the city was able to criple coalition air elements over the city.
Friendly Forces
- Task Force Noctem
- PLT, A, B, C, MMG, MAT, ENG
- US forces also present in the city. Due to heavy Iraqi EW efforts, we have no direct comms with them.
Assets
- 3x M1043 - 4 seats, 1x driver, 3x passenger
- 1x M1043(M2) - 5 seats, 1x driver, 1xgunner, 3x passenger
Enemy Forces
- Iraqi Armed Forces
- IAF are a conscription-based service, with more weapons than uniforms, meaning many of the enemy combatants are non-uniformed fighters.
- Uniformed soldiers are likely to be honor guard and therefore better trained and equiped.
Civilians
- Civilians were forced to stay in the city by the Iraqi government, to be used as human shields from air and artillery strikes.
- Civilian attitude towards their own leadership is generally unfavorable, but they are very oppressed and fearful of them and are unlikely to assist coalition forces.
II Mission
We were stationed at a small fuel stop just outside of the city, to be on reserve for QRF duty. The sudden mass air-defence strike has left US recovery teams stretched thin and they’ve called on us to go recover one of their Apache-crews.
III Execution
Commander’s Intent
- Check the crash site at objective ICARUS
- Recover surviving crew to a US field hospital
Movement Plan
- At PLT’s discretion
Fire Support
- No fire support available due to large civilian presence in the city.
Optional Tasks
- Disable any fixed AD sites you may come across.
IV Administration / Logistics
- Since enemy forces are largely conscripts, surrenders are likely, do not engage any surrendering enemies.
Resupplying
- Resupply available at base and through US logistics elements already in the city.
Reinforcements
- Reinsertions will be on the hour every hour and be adhered to strictly, no deviation is allowed.
- Reinsertions are the same for all, including vehicles teams.
- Platoon Commander has a one time reinsertion wild card at his disposal, call this in through HQ.
- At predesignated times, reinforcements will be sent out of the base in the smallest transport vehicle which can hold reinforcements.
- Upon insertion to the AO, reinforcements should stick together until regrouping with the main force in the AO.
