Our mission in Takistan to deal with the insurgents has come taken a turn for the worrying. The insurgents have reduced their activity, at first, we thought that maybe they were getting demoralized and would give up soon. It appears though that luck is not on our side, it looks like the insurgents are shoring up their resources to make a unified push on the southern airbase. Normally this would not be a problem but the men at the southern airbase left on a mission, so the base is currently at reduced strength and does not have the resources required to defend themselves. You must get a supply truck from our position in the northern airbase to the southern airbase. This will be difficult since the enemy knows you are coming and will throw everything, they have at you to stop you. Good luck.

Hey everyone,
I was very bored yesterday and decided to come up with a methodology/plan for Friday and this is what I came up with (isn’t 100% accurate regarding Guy’s BLUFOR zones however I think the approach is still appropriate).

If anyone sees any glaring issues with the approach or things that might need to be considered I’d be interested in knowing

I like it Ellpuk! I would like to suggest not to go through villages with the entire convoy but perhaps leave the Reammo truck with rear guard vehicle (armed, Vic4 or Vic5) well outside them and send Dagger and Alpha to clear first

I think that’s a good point. I was thinking it but was worried about lack of manpower in the assault - however, if NB soften up targets as planned before arrival I think you’re right - Alpha and Dagger should be sufficient

Generally speaking it’s always good to not roll into a village/town/city that is likely to be filled with enemies ready to ambush you. It’s the most dangerous situation for convoys, although we often ignore the threat. But in this case, with vehicles that we must protect I suggest have NB really look into the next town and if there’s more than a FT worth of infantry stop a few hundreds meters before it, clear it then drive through it.

Hey Ellpuk,

I looked at your suggested convoy setup. Here are a few suggestions:

We have three Ammo trucks and have to get one of them through, this seems like we are putting all our eggs in one basket if we only take one of them.

We have three Bradleys, maybe we go full mech inf on this one and have our infantry elements ride in them. All that fire power would be nice.

Current convoy:

Vic 1 - M2A3 Bradley - Dagger (2-3 Persons)
Vic 2 - M1238A1 ASV - Alpha (10 Persons)
Vic 3 - M939 Reammo - Engineers (2 Persons)
Vic 4 - M1151A1 (GPK/M2) - PLT (2-3 Persons)
Vic 5 (?) M1151A1 (GPK/M2) - MAT (3 Persons) (IF MAT PLT TAKE Unarmed)

Alt 1 convoy:

Vic 1 - M2A3 Bradley - Dagger 1 (2-3 Persons)
Vic 2 - M1238A1 ASV - Alpha (10 Persons)
Vic 3 - M939 Reammo - Engineers (2 Persons)
Vic 4 - Vic 4 - M1151A1 (GPK/M2) - PLT (2-3 Persons)
Vic 5 - M939 Reammo - Engineers (2 Persons)
Vic 6 - M2A3 Bradley - Dagger 2 (2-3 Persons)

Maybe we have no additional Dagger element but would be nice.

Hi Dachi,
I like the suggestion. I believe Guy’s intent was to have "3 different attempts" symbolised by "3 different supply trucks" but I’ll definitely add either Alt 1 Convoy or a variation of Alt 1 Convoy to the powerpoint. Thanks for the suggestion.

Amendments made - including possibility of utilisation of ‘modular squads’

Vehicle Cargo Space:

M1151A1 - 4
M1151A1 (GPK/M2) - 4
M2A3 - 4
M1238A1 ASV - 0 (Full of spare tires and tracks)
M939 Reammio - 20

Regarding Alt Convoy 1:

Only the dagger crew can operate the Bradley.

Finally managed to jump into arma and get the crew + passenger capacity of the vehicles.

This is the convoy composition I would suggest based on the cargo and passenger capacity:

Depending on numbers will depend on who can drive and ride in vic 3/4.

12591864 splitting Alpha in different parts of the convoy isn’t ideal: it will make responding to ambushes slower and badly coordinated from the beginning and add a lot of overhead on Alpha SL. I think either ENG get both trailing vehicles or MAT gets Vic 5

They wont fit in one vehicle mate. The orginal ASV can not fit 10 people in and also it is not armed.

You could instead have Alpha 1 in the Bradley and in an Armed humvee behind it to keep them together.

Made changes reflecting discussion - Vic 5 is a bit of a question mark right now however
