OPORD

I Situation:

Command have deemed it necessary to construct a new firebase. Just west of Kanleng has been selected as a suitable site.

Other elements have made headway in clearing some trees but need more manpower to build the base proper, which is where you come in. Task Force Noctem has been assigned to oversee the construction of this firebase.

In order to construct the firebase, you’ll need to import the materiel required for the key systems of the base, and to construct general fortifications.

Engineers can build general entrenchments, however in order to build key systems the Fortify Tool must be used. This will take resources that must be imported from crates via helicopter. The amount of required systems and their prices are detailed in later sections. Fortify tools are availalable at base and can be distributed by the Platoon Commander as they see fit.

A few trees have been cleared already, but the rest are going to need knocking down yourself to make room for the required services. M113-Bulldozer vehicles have been requisitoned to assist with this, they are capable of removing any tree they come close to. Please be aware that the ghosts of trees can still collide with the vehicles for a few moments after the tree itself is gone, so take it slow. Getting into and out of the bulldozer can help with this.

The area has been fairly quiet in terms of activity over the past few weeks.

Artillery is available and can be registered at Platoons’ discretion from the command tent.

Fire Support

M119a2 105mm Howitzer. Can be Called by:

 1. Any unit that registers at "Artillery Registration" radio. Only do this with Platoon Leader’s permission. Must re-register on respawn.

[rule]
[] IMPORTANT: ARTILLERY HAS A SPREAD OF ~75m RADIUS AND A SPLASH OF ~50m. THEREFORE CALL AT LEAST 150m AWAY FROM ANY FRIENDLY POSITION.
[rule]
[
] TO USE THIS SUPPORT, HOVER MOUSE OVER LOCATION ON THE MAP, PRESS 0 ON KEYBOARD, SELECT "SUPPORT" AND FOLLOW STEPS. ARTILLERY WILL DROP ON YOUR MOUSE LOCATION. KEEP MOUSE STEADY THROUGHOUT OR YOU MAY GET UNEXPECTED RESULTS

Optional Tasks

None

Reinforcements:

[] Reinsertions will be on the hour every hour and be adhered to strictly, no deviation is allowed. Reinsertions are the same for all, including vehicles teams.
[
] Platoon Commander has a one time reinsertion wild card at his disposal call this in through HQ.
[] At predesignated times, reinforcements will be sent out to the base in smallest transport vehicle which can hold reinforcements
[
] Upon insertion to the AO, reinforcements should stick together until regrouping with the main force in the AO

Just want to say. Happy to see this mission again!
Looking forward to it.

Bump. Really recommend you plan!

I plan on making the plan. Already have some ideas on what I want to do. Today/tomorrow you’ll have it here.

What elements do I have in my platoon?

All of them bar Falcon. You also get 2 engineering teams rather than just 1.

Platoon Elements:
ALPHA
BRAVO
ENGINEERS
NIGHTBIRD 1: TRANSPORT
NIGHTBIRD 2 (RAVEN): CAS
MORTAR (DEPENDS ON THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS)

Radios:
Long range: PLT CMD, Alpha SL, Bravo SL, Mortar on PLT net
PLT SGT, ENG, NTB, RVN on AIR net

Short range: PLT CMD, PLT SGT on a same channel

Insertion:
Nightbird and Raven will both take the Chinooks. Load up the troops and slingshot a bulldozer each. Both helicopters will land the bulldozers at the marked helicopter landing zone and unload troops. NTB landing the Dozer first and then unloading troops. NTB will RTB immediately and bring the next Dozer. After NTB leaves, RVN will land the Dozer and unload troops. RVN will RTB and bring the next Dozer. Total 4 Dozers in the AO. After this, NTB will start bringing in the building supplies while RVN will switch over to the CAS heli and assist with the supplies run until called upon by PLT SGT for a CAS mission.

Alpha and Bravo will comandeer two Dozers each and set about clearing the forest in Phase 1 area (codenamed CITADEL). Alpha clearing the North side of CITADEL, Bravo clearing South side of CITADEL. During Phase 1, ENG will split in half and start setting up initial trenches for Alpha and Bravo in CITADEL area according to the provided maps.

As soon as CITADEL is cleared of the forest Dozers will start clearing EVERYTHING that the road circles around. ALL trees inbetween the road MUST be removed, as well as additional few meters on the OUTSIDE of the road. This will give us good view over the AO and prevent the VC from sneaking up on us.

Clearing schedule: 1 fireteam of Alpha will clear the upper half of the envisioned base while 1 fireteam from Bravo will clear the lower half of the base. 2nd fireteams from Alpha and Bravo will provide security for their teams. During this whole time, ENG will continue setting up the trenches in Phase 1 along with H-Barrier walls and Bunkers when budget allows for it (brick walls on the provided maps represent trenches). In case of VC attack during the clearing Dozers will retreat inside the CITADEL walls until the attack passes. However, retreat ONLY if loss of Dozer is likely. The speed of clearing is crucial to the success of the whole operation.

As soon as the predicted build area becomes clear of trees, ENG will swoop in and start building fortifications according to the provided maps. Fortifications on the map are following the terrain contours, ENG can slightly adjust the positioning of the fortifications on the field if deemed necessary or a better solution is found.

After Phases 1 and 2 are completed, Alpha will take control of the CITADEL while Bravo pushes South towards Phase 3 area (codenamed CASTLE) and provide support and security for ENG while they set up the fortifications. Bravo will take control of the CASTLE and continue providing support for ENG while they set up Phases 3, 4, and 5.

At the end, Alpha will be in charge of zones 1 and 2 while Bravo will control zones 3 and 4. Zone 5 is there to give some cover to the helipad and is to be used by both Squads as they see fit.

After fortifications in all Phase areas have been built, ENG will start setting up the base buildings required by the HQ. Comms tower, 3x barracks, 1x medical tent in the CITADEL area, 1x medical tent in Phase 2 area, 1x medical tent in CASTLE area, 4x large vehicle trenches for howitzers in the area inbetween zones 2, 3, and 4.

Alpha and Bravo Squad leads will be provided M2 Browning emplacements to place them as they see fit.

I like the base layout. However, if we have time I would have the bulldozers clear out up to 100m from the base to get a clear killing ground. It’s hard to see on these maps, but sometimes the forest looks to be within 20 meters of the base edge, which could allow enemies to sneak up very close.

Additionally, I think the enemy really likes firing artillery at our positions. So it might be good to plan to have some designated bunkers for people to set up in when artillery starts falling, that still allow our elements to cover their sectors. I know the camo net bunkers look good, but they don’t provide much protection for this purpose.

Also 7849506 I see we have the cold war mod for the CNTO faction. Do we have any GPS (on the ground) and who has radios? (If there’s a link to the loadouts that fine as well)

No GPS, only only FTLs and above have radios.

Good point about the extra bunker. Problem with the terrain is it’s really bumpy but there should be at least one decent spot somewhere inside CITADEL and CASTLE to place one larger bunker for Alpha and Bravo each.

100 meters of clear ground in all directions would be amazing, but also tough to achieve once we get under fire. We will certainily try.
