Coop - Escape from Soviet Bystrica

Map: Bystrica
Time: 18 00
Weather: Cloudy, evening
Host: Unknown User (Mother)

While on way from Panthera to regular unit rotation, our airplane got hit by missile above Bystrica territory. Our C-130 was probably disturbed by electronic warfare system and lead intentionally away from our airspace. We did luckily survived the crash, but we do not know how about others.

OPORD

I Situation:

Rescue action is impossible in next hours. We have to move on ground. River is the border line between Soviet Bystrica and our safety. We have duty to look for survivors in crash sites. Enemy is actively searching for us, as we are in their sovereign country. They know our aproximate crash position. Enemy will actively try to find us.

Friendly Forces:

•TFN

Assets:

•NA

Enemy Forces:

•Soviet AF, armed civilians
•Tank platoon
•Aviation, artillery, mechanized infantery divisions

What is enemy expected to do?
•Enemy will actively search for us
•They want capture us preferably alive or, if needed, death
•They want cut our possible ways towards river
•They do not want let us cross the river

Civilians:

•Civilians are present, armed and can report positions to local AF. They can actively persue us.

II Mission:

•Survive
•Check marked areas for survivors
•Eliminate radio-electronic warfare station crew
•Free prisoners at prison camp marker (not mandatory)
•Get on second side of river to UN camp

III Execution:

Commander’s intent

•Do not try to confront enemy, avoid contact if possible
•Do not get discovered by searching forces
•If discovered do not confront enemy unless they are direct threat
•Consider stealth and recon tactics for success
•Proceed to objectives. Use force at objectives if needed.
•Escape succesfully to UN camp

Movement Plan

•At platoon decision

Fire Support

•NA

Optional Tasks

•Free prison camp

IV Administration / Logistics:

Resupplying

•Resupplying is possible by paradrop on platoon request

Reinforcements:

•At predesignated times, or by platoon leader order, transport will be sent out of the base
•There is possibility that reinforcements could be found in the crash site (Survivors 3 marker) area at predesignated time

This mission looks very complicated.

If you have questions I can provide some intel about the situation and enemy forces and probably others.

It s easy:

  1. step on and do not get trapped or you will have to fight throught
  2. get to the survivors markers and check them
  3. survive and get to electronic warfare marker
4-A. if there is enought time - try to free the POWs
4-B if there is not enough time - go to the bridge and UN camp

I would say it will be challanging, not complicated.

Edit: I just want say too, it will be not night mission but about evening day light all mission long

I suppose guerilla tactics are in order here: move quickly in cover & disengage fast when under fire.
Basic movement plan proposal:

  • Follow waypoints 1 & 2
  • Forces split at WP2 to search for survivors at Mercury & Venus
  • Regroup (red marker) & continue through WP3 & WP4
  • At WP4, we’ll try to recon the electronic warfare objective & decide on an OPORD
  • After clearing the electronic warfare, forces regroup at Jupiter & recon the POW camp to devise an OPORD
  • Rally at yellow marker before moving to the UN camp

Just want say this, to avoid confusion during mission:

Enemy can standardly use:

  • red flares to draw attention on you, mark you or deceive you from GLs and mortars
  • red smokes from GLs and mortars to mark your position or to deceive you
  • blue smokes to mark their own positions to avoid friendly fire
  • smoke screens from hand smokes, mortars or GLs in white and yellow color
  • stun granades (from GLs or hand) to capture you alive

Enemy HQ will proceed by military logic along reported informations from ground and air units.

Soviet Bystrica AF are not in good shape and sometimes old vehicles can overheat and engine can catch fire and badly smoke, crew is not able to operate those vehicles in any way.

Edit:
Mechanized infantery vehicles can be used to drop infantery on ordered positions for different purposes. (persue, patrol, hold-control position, check, prepare ambush, cut off…)
