What do you think we did well? What did we do bad?

I was medic for the first time. I have to say the AMS was a really nice addition to our gameplay, I really like it. People are always happy to see you and you are really helpful. I had a few people come to scratch some bandages from my backpack too (which is nice I think: when you ask in the feedback if the number of bandages was alright, I’da say to leave it as it is, so people can rely on the medic even more, even if they are not directly injured)

About the mission:
I really lover the Command and Conquer: General feeling ! (I believe you used the soundtrack didn’t you ? )
Loved the two factions thingy, wish the patrol had the time to investigate the whole town though.
Loved the suicide bombers and motorbikes (were they supposed to be suicide bombers too ? that would have been nasty but really cool too)
I liked the enemy tactics but I think there wasn’t enough of them (from my point of view at least), the overall mood was really laid back I think.
Landscape was great, I really like Takistan, nice change from Thirsk for example

Oh and of course, impressive work on the tunnels, it feels great to have people able to do this in the community !

Yes it was the soundtrack from C&C Generals.

There weren’t any suicide bombers, just IEDs, I think that suicide bombers are a little too dark for our community. I’m working on making the motorbike enemies a little cooler and better functioning for my next mission…

Speaking of IEDs everyone did a great job of not detonating them, considering we haven’t had an IED training in a while. There were a few close calls.

I was going to throw a lot more at you in the valley but I was worried about time constraints and wanted to get you to the next segment of the mission before we went overtime. In retrospective I shouldn’t have let people take the Hunters. Two bulletproof mobile hmgs equipped with thermals were OP. I was trying to get mksmen team to notice their downed comrade xander at the time so he didn’t have to be unconcious all mission, and didn’t realize they were taking them from the base. I did say reinsert via quad, but perhaps there wasn’t enough. One left before re-insert too.

They were too effective and probably spoiled most of the later fighting in the valley. Remind me to spawn an IED surprise for them in future…

 1. Loadouts were fun and interesting. I am very bored with generic M4 that every single game uses so I enjoy using different weapons. The multinational involvement was quite nice and unique.
 2. Quadbikes were perfect for the landscape. Allowed use some nice mobility. Almost killed Xander though.
 3. The use of OP unit and assault force was a good call. Usually when infantry is deep in the valleys the most obvious approach for the enemy is to just approach the edge of the cliffs and have a massive advantage of the units in the valley. The additional op unit that moved along the valley on the cliffs providing security gave some real sense of depth to the mission. I really like it when the mission maker has considered the approach beforehand and prepeared units accordingly.
 4. I liked the enemy for what it was supposed to be. There was no set army to oppose us but just bunch of rebellious hooligans. Their attacks were expectedly disorganised and chaotic. Would’ve liked to have seen more opposition in the caves but as you had barely any time to do it. It didn’t deter from the experience.
 5. Since we were on the hills mostly using too many more vehicles wouldn’t have had made any sense. Would’ve like to have seen more AT infantry using its RPG-s stupidly as an anti-infantry weapon. That usually scares anyone who sees a strike 50m away.
 6. AI was good. It’s accuracy becomes an issue in these long ranges though. Due to the fact that we don’t use scopes it becomes difficult to counter enemies who can put down accurate fire 600m away standing.
 7. Pacing was great. Never got boring for a moment. I especcially liked the accidental mission of saving Xander that happened. From mission design point of view I like that there was a solid climax point to it. It didn’t just die down at the end. It really ended at a high note.
 8. It might be just my thing but I really would like a clear mission statement that answer the 5 questions. If its a patrol mission I would like to see "CNTO will conduct a patrol around the objectives A,B,C and return not later than S+1.5H to allow US to steal oil."
 9. Landscape was great and with the cave question you are just fishing for compliments. I have wanted to get some good indoors combat in arma for a while now but haven’t been able to. There just doesn’t seem to be any large buildings for it. Probably because AI is useless at it.
 10. I was pretty tired so tried to delegate alot of the activities. My unit did great.
 11. Good mission idea. Keep at it. We need more good mission makers.
 12. Multi national aspect, good tactical vision from the mission maker and those caves are what made this experience great.
 13. Some mistakes happened but overall objective was completed and people had fun.

An excellent mission. Obviously the cave was a work of art. Price managed to make it so we didn’t get stuck on terrain and the OPFOR still managed to provide a nasty challenge in a tight interior. I wish I had chem lights but then perhaps that would have made it less scary so better off without. I liked the fact that we had different friendly units working together the only problem I have with this is I loose track of what friendly forces all look like, perhaps I should have read the brief more closely…

I enjoyed the town fighting and then the change of pace moving down the valley. We had variety without having to drive or fly hundreds of miles around the map! I also loved the little campsite we found by the lake.

 1. I was a happy user of HK. It feels like a powerful rifle(even tho’ it’s 5.56). I don’t like that zeroing is only 400m because the fact that it’s powerful allows you to shoot on long distances and there we had contacts 500 and 600m away. I like it. as Zcribe said it’s nice not to have M4 all the time in your hands.
 2. They were fine.
 3. I liked it and again I was aware what was happening with my squad. Later on the Brits joined us along with 'muricans(marines?) and THEN I also knew what they were doing.
 4. I didn’t really like intensity. 1st Town I saw was nice. A lot of enemies just came in and started pretty big firefight(in which I got headshoted :frowning: ) but the valley… uuugh Could have been more. It felt like a casual walk when the enemies could approach us from heights and there could be MUCH more of them… we saw like 3 or 4 fireteams down there. I would expect 10 and more… The valley is perfect place for big gunfight because of the interesting elevation and landscape overall. I must say I’m a little bit disappointed on that but it was still fun. The tactics… Hardly existant :stuck_out_tongue: but I wouldn’t expect much more fro infidels.
 5. I met 3 vehicles and some bikes that we sniped from 600m soo… Maybe you threw some more on other squads but IMO it was perfectly enough. I wouldn’t throw more on this operation.
 6. Well… That one time I got headshoted was… Disappointing… But overall it didn’t feel like they were so accurate. Maybe it was due to distances. It was fine I guess… Hard to say. I wasn’t really under fire many times.
 7. It was good. Valley could be more swarmed but I already said that.
 8. Just like someone said(Zcribe?) It would be nice for this kind of mission if we had more specific targets. Go see if we can steal oil and go back to base S+1h. We all know it’s gonna go south at some point. This way it’s more immersive
 9. Oh fuck yeah it was interesting. I LOVE maps like that. They are simply the best. Maps like this one or the one that was in Early Meal are 11/10. The Caves… WHOA… Great job man! I Didn’t expect that. It was extremely fun. Something fresh, something hard, cluster fuck was real and I loved it!
 10. Not much to say about leaders. They were all good as usual. What I’ve noticed, among other, is that my team(Alpha-2) was pushing forward very fast and we almost didn’t take any casualties.
 11. Well mission idea was to get him by "unexpected" forces and then figure out… As I said, if we had clear objective AND THEN things would go south then it’s better mission idea. But now talking about what happened and what was meant to happen then it was great. I liked the idea with clearing town and going into valley afterwards.
 12. Good experience - fucking everything. Bad experience - early death and lack of enemies in valley.
 13. We did everything well. Nothing to say here

Few words from me: Caves were awesome but I’ve said that and everyone else said that already… I liked the fact that we found that small campsite, that we had 3 nations in there,no NV and the thing with changing time. I know that you had to change time because light was going into the caves but it was a nice to thing to see for some reason(quote of the year on that: I sat here watching west for 4 fucking hours? God damn it! ~Xerses "28.05.07") And I also liked that we had no NV. I’d like to see a mission in the future where there’s night and we have no NV but there are 2 types of those missions. With full moon and bright landscape like the one we had here OR pitch black night where we use a ton of flares. I’d like to see both. I’m curious how it would work out but to me it sounds like fun.

About the grenades… This has been driving me crazy ever time when I thought about it. There was order not to throw nades in the caves. Yeah… sounds like a good plan concidering the first image we saw was tight hole(that’s what she said) but guys… I watched a video. 3 people threw nades. 2 persons knew how to do it. First throw was in the last room without sky. HUGE area and then tight passage. Enemies were doing impressive suppressing fire and everyone who peaked either died or got injured. Someone decided to throw nade in there as the shreds had no chances of killing us there. Worked PERFECT. We moved on. Next area where there was open sky(so technicly out of cave I’d say. It looked like we’re almost outside.) There was even more enemies with even more suppressive fire and more cluster fuck as people had no space to move. 15 people behind one rock. This time I decided to throw some nades. When their firepower got significantly low we moved in and the last person to throw a nade killed some of us and cause the drama. I watched it frame by frame and it was a teammate I can point out with finger but that’s not the case. First of all it wasn’t a smart throw as we were moving in… But second of all we all know that throw nades next to wall leaning towards you is the worst possible idea you can have…
What I’m trying to say here is that you have to look at different things with different angles sometimes. If not those grenades that we succeeded to throw I don’t know if we would do it so fine. I assume around 10 people would die. Honestly. It was very hard to get there. 2 Perfect areas to throw a grenade. If you know that you are not gonna cause any trouble with that then why wouldn’t you do it? Both throws were completely safe for teammates and 3rd one… well… was stupid IMO in the first place. It’s like with picking up enemy’s weapon. When you hear enemies outside are you going to ask for permission to take the gun because that’s a constant order or are you going to take the gun, kill the enemies and then say on net that you need ammo/took enemy’s gun? Don’t get tunnel vision in conversation as well

For clarifcation about grenades in the caves, and why Teddy and the other leaders took their gloves off. I agree they’re the best method for clearance, but they were too deadly in such close quaters. You were killing the enemies too fast! I couldn’t even man the M2 machine gun before you were galloping through the corridors and storming the first chamber! In retrospective, really should have given everyone a cache of flashbangs for the breech and clear segment instead. Didn’t realize you were all so gutsy, especially considering the volume of suppressive fire and tight, dark conditions, whilst simaltaneously being blinded by floodlights.

The shrapnel in such close quaters was too deadly. As far as I know, friendlies were killed, along with the surrendering enemies. That’s the reason people were angry. It’s really my fault for not providing stun grenades. I forgot to put a ammo-ressuply at the entrance.

A few other civilians were killed in other places too, though not nessecarily anyone’s fault. Lots of grenades were going off.

I’ve learned a lot though, so if there’s a cave in my next mission… I know what to do.

Some of your videos haven’t uploaded yet, i’m excited to see the cave clearance from a player perspective.

All videos are uploaded now so you can see the caves

Well now when you say what that was about then I guess grenades were really too deadly. Flashbangs would have been cooler.

About the hostages. I saw them. When we were clearing caves someone shouted to hold fire. I saw 3 hostages but I haven’t seen any surrendering enemies. I guess I’ve killed one civilian back in town but when they run among infidels they look like one of them. You gotta teach people to not shoot civilians because they are annoying or distractive. Mistakes happen but shooting on purpose to civilians is not cool.

Well… they had their hands on their heads…

No… I’ve watched the video because maybe I just missed something but I haven’t seen ant infidels surrendering. Just the 4 hostages.

So I just watched the video and you’re right, the use of grenades wasn’t overzealous, but the guy who ran in front of your barrel and threw his grenade straight at the rock in front of him which killed you… he fucked up. I’d say you were justified, since you were outside of the cave segment and throwing grenades with the intention of landing it on the enemy positions in the open, to break the bottleneck, … it seems we need a training for grenades using the new system in place. And to take offensive grenade rights away from anyone who doesn’t attend.

I also think we should learn to use the advanced throwing system. I don’t think a training is a good idea, I’d rather have 20 minutes sessions before the few next operations, where all the features and key-bindings would be covered. (Just like we did for AMS).

(Here is the ace3 wiki link: http://ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/advanced-throwing.html ) (It is way shorter than the AMS)

AO was interesting and the mission was good. It is often fun to play against these enemies and so it was this time too. There could have been a bit more of them though.

One thing I noted was that there seemed to be a lot of friendly fire going on through out the whole mission. I too received my share by getting killed by a friendly rifle grenade. However our (bravo, euro?) uniform was darker, which in certain conditions might have fooled friendlies and I believe that was the reason I got shot (no hard feelings 9240990 :-d ).

THANK YOU! People seemed to not get my point on debrief since everyone was saying: oh we told you to not throw grenades in caves RABLE RABLE RABLE. My frustration and salt in my body raised until Teddy thought that he shouted on me and that he feels terrible about it. You actually stopped me from going crazy, Teddy  . And that guy that ran in front of my barrel… Cmon… we can do better that this

Someone also said about the possibility of cave being wanky and that the walls would let shreds kill us. First of all the cave was so great that I thought it was made by map makers and 2nd of all… Everything was going so well that I really didn’t think about such a ridiculous bug…

Hey guys late I know but I recorded it and edited the video just didn’t realise I hadn’t uploaded it haha well here it is better late than never I guess.

Yeah took ages to upload finished now!!!

Great video, shame you spent so long trying to get a certain someone up. Should have thrown more troops at the valley for you and the guys below.
