Coop: Cursed Storm

Hey guys, please share your stories, awesome moments and all mission related feedback.
Describe what you liked about the mission and what did you dislike.

Vanilla enemy. Please no, it is so frustrating to shoot ten rounds at the same guy.
AR optics. What was the deal with the magnification? Thought we only play with 1x scopes.

Otherwise good op.

I know the list seems overused now but I do get good feedback from it so please take your time.

  1. How were the loadouts(Weapons)? Please compare G36 to other weapons and which do you prefer? Any issues?
  2. Did you like the assets provided? (Vehicles)
  3. Did you like the tactical approach? Did you understand what was going on?
  4. Did you like the enemy and its attack intensity? Its tactics?
  5. What about enemies composition (enough of a mix between tanks, infantry, IFVs, APC, Helos)?
  6. How was the AI? Did AI faction seem fun and balanced against you? AI was ment to be better armed than you.
  7. How was the overall pacing for you? Were there alot of boring lulls?
  8. Was the OPORD descriptive enough or would you have expected something more in there?
  9. Was the landscpe interesting? Were the tools provided useful in the landscape? Any other issues with the map?
  10. Leaders, were the tactical aspects fun? How did your units do? Who did especcially well? How did your leaders do?
  11. How did you like the mission idea overall?
  12. What do you think made the mission good or bad experience for you?
  13. What do you think we did well? What did we do bad?
  14. UPDATE: Your opinion on the firing range? Did you use it? Did you like it? Did it break immersion? Did it quell the boredom of death?

Juggling attention between 2 seperate units + air unit is hard. Keeping unit moving towards the objective and busy with attacks is one of the main balancing problems. This creates situations where attacks are kept weak so the unit could move. Thus creating experiences where one might not even get shots off. I will try to counter these issues in future.

1.nothing to report
2. the AR weapon had a weird scope, not easy to use. The AT only had 3 mags.
3.nothing to report
4.the mission was good from a tactical pov, recon seemed to have good fun too. I guess we can implement recon, I would just not annouce any recon team upfront and randomly pick an FT for that, like in this mission. That probably solves the recon team ‘always the same guys’ having fun issue we already had discussions about.
5 - 14. not much to say, the mission was good, we struggled a bit at the beginning to get started, and we might have died a bit too much until in the main AO.

  1. Load outs seemed ok for SL.
  2. MRAPS and air assets were appropriate for the mission and provided a bit of help without being too powerful. I tried to use them as a support element and then swap the guys who were using them.
  3. I liked the suggestion of using a recon element and sent them out as soon as I could, the intel the gathered helped me plan the route to the objective. I followed the shortest route to the main objective I could as I know how bogged down we always get.
  4. I actually liked the AAF enemy as it made a change from the usual Russian opfor. I think they are generally easier to fight than Russian forces as the infantry vests are not as armoured but I may be wrong there.
  5. Generally challenging but not impossible to deal with mix of enemy vehicles. We may have been very lucky that Nightbird was always there in time to save us from enemy helicopters that could have easily wiped us all out.
  6. AI seemed fine.
  7. I think there were boring bits for the forward elements as I tried to gather up supporting elements to deal with the next objective. However this was not the fault of the mission which was well-paced.
  8. OPFORD gave just enough info without being too long.
  9. I always enjoy playing on Sahrani maps.
  10. I was glad I Bravo 1 enjoyed themselves in their recon role as I was worried they might get cut off and surrounded. I don’t think I commanded Alpha and B2 very well. Perhaps I should have given them a series of better defined objectives instead of giving very general orders.
  11. I think it was good idea for a half Friday mission.
  12. Being a Squad leader always means you are terrified of messing-up but happy when people enjoy themselves. The map markers being reset did make it difficult to coordinate people and for teams to work with each other.
  13. We could be slightly faster on marking contacts on map or at least mention a map reference the contact if relative to. This was made more difficult with the reset map markers.
  1. AAR was kinda ok. I had 4 types of magazines(15 in total) and it forced me to change type of magazines all the time… Hard to tell how was the damage of gun as I managed to kill 2 guys! It’s very loud, it’s 5.56. MEH. It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t choose it again. Mostly because of the noise. I wouldn’t mind if that gun was actually more powerfull but it seems average.
  2. Yeah. They are tool so it’s hard to drive but they are ok.
  3. I didn’t really take part in any action. Gonna say about that later.
  4. No. I saw enemies 3 times during the entire mission.
  5. Pretty the whole thing was boring lull from my perspective. We didn’t do shit. just casually walked into town where I fired few rounds, got hit by nade and got bruise from it and about hour later we got to drive a car for a moment, in which I met my destiny.
  6. Fine as always.
  7. Not bad, not genius either.
  8. The idea was nice, I just didn’t get to see it with my own eyes…
  9. Complete lack of objectives. We literally took the town, waited for a looooong time, moved to another town and I died.

So few words now. Not even gonna bother to upload it on YT. It’s waste my ping. This is not some kind of rant but this has happened before once. We were out of objectives, we barely met enemies. When we were entering towns either someone killed everyone beforehand or someone killed them on our eyes… Sorry to be that harsh but that’s the truth that has to be told… In one of the previous OPs (Summer Storm?) I had similar situation. We were recon squad and we just marked enemies with lazors and then approached very few enemies. At least we were pretty helpful there… It’s not fun to just sit around for 2.5 hours

Yeah sorry about the slow pace and lack of enemies. I think that might have been because of me moving up our forces too slowly as I tried to have one team cover the other with the vehicles and us having a good attack chopper team. If you were an infantryman attacking and you survived you got to the target to find everything blowned up. Might have been a better mission for you if we had a more daring plan and perhaps less firepower.

The fault lays between Zeus and squad lead… It just happens from time to time. Important thing is to remember what happened and try to avoid doing that in future. Sometimes it’s hard for GM to keep everyone busy and for squad lead to fill that gap.

After all we did… You did kinda good didn’t you? Everything went more or less smoothly and due to lack of time we rushed a little bit the last objective but you captured it anyways. So I guess good job, try to put more pressure on us next time  Nothing to worry about here.
