I never quite understood why the Avenger was nicknamed the Penguin, I think I found why.
Have you played around with SC+VR yet, such as the Oculus Rift?
Thread moved to Gaming Discussions and merged with Star Citizen thread.
Yes
I had the chance to try it out at a friend place.
Sadly it was on the first version of the game that supported the oculus, and so it was quite buggy.
But totally awesome when working.
(the full setup with hotas and pedals was a nice touch as well)
I tried out the new update 1.3, noticed outfit changer, couple of static objects in the hangar and couple of changes to the chat system. Did anyone find any other changes?
But how did I miss ARK starmap…
There is actually a tons of new things, but 1.3 is more of a Code merge than anything else.
The patch note is there Star Citizen Alpha 1.3 - Roberts Space Industries | Follow the development of Star Citizen and Squadron 42 .
The patch was more for them than it was for us as Ben said.
If you were watching the PTU you would have noticed that it had been patched 5 times within 2 days.
Thanks to 1.3 and the code merge they need only 4 hours to compile the game, witch was a 140 hours process before.
It’s matters of weeks before AC 2.0 and after that StarMarine should be released, witch will be the biggest patch of StarCitizen to date. Basically giving us the CitizenCon 2015 and more content.
If you want more info, go check http://imperialnews.network/ they got awesome podcast called INNSIDE THE ‘VERSE.
Or you can also go to http://radio.starcitizenbase.com/ and listen to the Friday Night show, witch are always hilarious.
Sit tight Ryujin, you’ll soon be able to fly in the 'Verse.
I need tl;dr version. Don’t have time to listen to more podcasts and read changelog.

I’ll just put some more hype down there don’t mind me.
Dedication to the cause:
PC Gamer - Meet a fan who has spent $30,000 on Star Citizen ships
I haven’t even looked at this game yet. Is it in a good playable state? Is it everything the hype made it out to be?
To me, right now, no.
Right know, of course not.
And that’s coming from a starcitizen and Chris Roberts die hard fan.
I’ll make a complete post about what you get now, what you’ll get Soon (with price and stuff), and what you’ll get at realese.
Just can’t right now currently at uni with phone.
While writing my big article I thought I could post this here

Hey lads, quick update on the ‘‘Incoming Big Post’’, I’m just off the 3 years anniversary CIG livestream, and ‘‘2.0’’ just got unleashed to the Public Test Environment (PTU), and will be open to all on live server in about 1 week’ish.
Long story short, ‘‘Big Post’’ would be obsolete in about few days, and expect then a ‘‘Big Post 2.0’’.
S**t tons of new videos on the StarCitizen youtube, go check it out.
I’ll just leave below the 32 second witch made me change my pants tonight.

Star Citizen, Big Post 2.0
As previously announced, here is the big post I’ve been talking around, wherever you would be a new comer the Star Citizen or a grizzled veteran from the deep space, you should be able find here about any information you’ll ever need. I’ll try to keep this post updated as often as I can, and make it more and more complete with time, but if you ever need to ask about something you can do it below, and I’d answer it to the best of my capabilities.
“From the mind of Chris Roberts, acclaimed creator of Wing Commander and Freelancer, comes STAR CITIZEN. 100% crowd funded, Star Citizen aims to create a living, breathing science fiction universe with unparalleled immersion… and you’re invited to follow every step of development!
More than a space combat sim, more than a first person shooter and more than an MMO: Star Citizen is the First Person Universe that will allow for unlimited gameplay."
I/ 2.0, Your firsts steps into the StarCitizen universe.
With the 3 year anniversary live stream of Star Citizen the 2.0 version of Star Citizen went up to the PTU (Public Test Environment). But what is 2.0 ? To answer this we’ll have to look a tiny bit behind us and talk briefly of 1.3 and below. Before 2.0 the game was release piece by piece to us
with ‘‘Modules’’, First the ‘‘Hangars’’, witch allowed us to look at our Spaceships for the first times, ‘‘Arena Commander’’, our dogfight module where we would have our first space battles, free flight and races with the Murray Cup, and finally the ‘‘Social Module’’, Arc Corp, the splendid first landing area presented to us.
Arena commander 1.3, Hornet Cockpit view
What is 2.0 ? Take all that, and munch it together.
You wake up in your bed, onto Port Olistar, go find your mates into the station corridors, check your MobiGlass for missions, get to the central area, request a ship, run it to the designated landing pad, mount up with your friends in a multi-crew ship while others get their fighter for escort, take off, and Quantum Space your way to adventure, the first iteration in FPS, Multi-crew technologies , interior physics grid, Quantum travel, the new IFCS model, EVA, missions and so much more.
But 2.0 is more than that ! It’s the base onto witch CIG will thrown at us every game play mechanics they will add, and expend the universe, 2.0 is the foundation of Star Citizen.

I,b/ Arena commander
In-lore Arena Commander is a simulation module that pilots can plug into and practice in. It’s served as the testing ground for much of our flight and in-combat ship experience. All ships listed as flyable pre-2.0.0 PTU can be flown and fight in any of these modes.
6-Part Tutorial that introduces players to basic and advanced flight controls, including take-off, landing and combat.
Game modes include (Available in both single and multiplayer):
Racing Mode, with three unique “tracks” of increasing difficulty. It is referred to as the Murray Cup in lore.
Free-flight mode, with no time limit, AI enemies or goals on your choice of two unique maps, Dying Star or Broken Moon.
Vanduul Swarm, on two unique maps, Dying Star or Broken Moon. Do battle with wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemy Vanduul ships.
Single player mode has AI teammates to help you.
Multiplayer mode is up to four players in a team vs the Vanduul Swarm.
In AC there’s for now differant mode to play with, Battle Royale, a free for all combat mode with four to sixteen players. The player who scores the most total points within the time limit is the winner.
Squadron Battle, a team vs team fight with four to eight players on each side. The team who scores the most points against the rival team within the time limit is the winner.
Capture the Core, a team-based capture the “flag” game mode with teams of four to six players on each side. The first team to score five captures wins.
All can be played on two unique maps, Dying Star or Broken Moon.
Public free-matches are limited four per side.
I,c/ ARC CORP
ArcCorp, Area 18, Stanton, Crusader.
Area 18 is a city on ArcCorp, a planet in the Stanton system and our first interactive planetside environment.
Gameplay is focused on individual exploration and social interaction.
The zone contains a customs area, shops, Medical Bay, items (not yet buyable) and a bar.
Augmented Reality mode allowed players to see names of other characters and view the names/details/prices of any items they look at.
Fully destructible Greycat Buggies that players could drive around the zone, with the ability to run over and kill other players or destroy said buggies.
Our first player experience with death and respawn into a Medical Bay after being run down.
Some NPCs, with interaction being developed now.
Introduced our chat and animated/voiced emote system. With the ability to create and join multiple chat channels, zone into ArcCorp instances with their friends, and interact with them on a much more personal level.
Up to 36 players, with a hard cap of 40. The soft cap is to allow for friends to join the same instance together.
I,d/ Hangars
Hangars are where players can view and explore their ships, as well as decorative items, objects and subscription flair items that sold from the store.
Hangars can expand from one to up to five bays depending on the number of ships loaded into them on the website.
Each bay can hold 3 small ships, 1 medium or 1 large ship. Expanded options are in development.
The exception is VFG Industrial. The central bay for VFG Industrial can only hold 3 small or 1 medium, not a large ship.
StarCitizen currently have four hangars. SelfLand, Aeroview, Revel &York, and VFG Industrial.
Gameplay:
View, explore and interact with your ships or the hangars.
Use the Holotable to remove, add or change the equipment loadout on your ships.
Interact with flair items from posters to a small bar or Jukebox.
Drive around in a Greycat Buggy (if available).
VFG Industrial Hangar, inside an asteroid.
II/ Squadron 42, and Solo campaigns.
Aside from the multiplayer Persistent universe witch is StarCitizen, will come 3 solo/coop’ish adventure, Squadron 42, Squadron 42: Behind Enemy Lines, and a third one we don’t now the name yet. Every one of these is considered to be equal as a AAA game in term of quality and quantity, and will offer a full immersion with 70+ missions and lot’s of content. In these you’ll play a ‘‘younger self’’ (Compare to StarCitizen), young pilot who just joined the ranks of the United Earth Empire (UEE). If you ever played a Wing Commander, imagine that on steroids and you would then have a picture of what Squadron 42 will be.
For the others, who never played a Wing Commander, Squadron 42 will be your life as a pilot inside the UEE during the wars against the Vanduul witch started after the Battle of Vega II.

A video called The Morrow Tour was shown to us during the CitizenCon 2015 witch would give you a general idea, sadly what was presented to us was super early in the process of making and the polished version is yet to be realesed.
In this 3 chapter trilogies each one of the choices you will have to make will resort in a different ending.
As a final note, we can’t but notice the awesome cast you will be playing with.

III/ Pricing, Website, Community.
Since there is a lot of discussion about the pricing, I’ll try to be as clear as I can.
To get the game who will have to acquire one of these pack.
We will start with the Starter Package, witch come in two form, The Aurora and the Mustang.
Each one of these pack gives you the complete and whole thing, Squadron 42 AND Star Citizen, with few extra stuff like an hangar, a bit of money, a 3 month insurance ( Nothing important really will explain later on) and grant you, in reward a ship. Think of those as Pre-Order. Buying more expansive pack doesn’t give you any kind of advantage, each and every ship will be buyable in the universe with in-game money once the game goes live.
Every other package than the Starters are just ways to contribute to the crown funding, giving extra money to CIG for them to complete the game.
Be careful, Standalone ship doesn’t work as a game package ! The are just once again extra way to kicks in a little more money for the game development and for the player to get a new ship to play with.
The RSI Constallation, Flag ship of Star Citizen
There is also something called the referral program, each player is given a unique code to share.
New players can sign up to Star Citizen by using a Referral Code (For exemple mine is STAR-V5PC-4FJS if you want to use it, or ask your friends for theirs !) . They will earn 5,000 UEC (United Earth Credits) which can be spent on the website for weapons, ship components or decorations. Whenever a Recruit becomes an actual Star Citizen player by buying a Game Package, the referent is given recruitment point and rewards.
You can find a tons of information on the website, about the game and every aspect of it.
And follow the game development with Weekly and Monthly update, and shows like Around the Verse, 10 for the Chairman where Chris Roberts himself answer community questions, Bugsmasher and others, from the Star Citizen you tube page, go check them out.
There is a lot to explore on the website, and one of the must see is the ARK map, that you must try for yourself, go there and explore the universe !
You may thing the organisation page while roaming around the website, the org system works as a guild system in other MMO’s for Star Citizen, you can already join the Carpe Noctem if you want to !
Finally I’d like to present you two website about SC, INN, the Imperial News Network, where you can find lot’s of information, podcast, and tldr version of SC official news and shows.
And finally the Base radio, witch is a web radio around Star Citizen, lot’s of good shows there as well witch are worth to listen to.
IV/ Ships, Insurance, FPS Armor and Weapons
V/ What’s coming next, StarMarine, Sataball, Baby PU update.
SC Go-Live , or the deadline when my PC will need an upgrade in several matters…
Star Citizen last day of anniversary sales !
Most ships are available, get your dream ship for the incoming 2.0 Patch !
Edit : Guess I’m a pirate now.
